Description

Chile is one of world’s most diverse and beautiful countries. This 5-day/4-night program focuses on the country’s central region, with two days in the nation’s capital Santiago, and two more in Wine Country. The program in Santiago will have a distinct food and wine theme, with visits to markets, barrios, watering holes, and some of the best food the city has to offer. The second half of the program will be centered around the stunning Vik winery in the Colchagua Valley.

Day 1

Arrive Santiago

Met on arrival and transferred to your hotel. Founded in 1541 by Pedro de Valdivia, the Chilean capital is today a modern, sprawling, and vibrant metropolis. Flanked on one side by the Andes mountain range, and the Coastal range on the other, the city has a unique natural backdrop. Today, Chile's capital is a dynamic, modern city where colonial mansions sit among soaring skyscrapers, folk art becomes fashion and Latin and European cultures intertwine. Go on a quick orientation tour of Santiago. Dinner. (B,D)

Day 2

Santiago

This second day will be a culinary-themed exploration of Santiago’s downtown and barrios.
– Visits to the city’s main fruit, vegetable, and seafood markets. – A drink at one of the city’s infamous hole-in-thewall bars. – An informal lunch at one of Santiago’s legendary sandwich restaurants. – A visit to Barrio Italia, including a private pisco sour class and hors d’oeuvres. – A wine-pairing dinner at a local venue. Day 3

Wine Country

Take a scenic drive from Santiago to Wine Country. – A stop at the famous ‘Juan y Medio’ roadside restaurant for a traditional Chilean lunch. – Evening at leisure at the Vik Millahue winery. – A 4-course dinner at Vik, including its stellar red wine. Vik Millahue (B,D)

Day 4

Vik winery

An action-packed day of activities at the Vik winery including off-road driving, active adventure, and wine tasting. Vik Millahue (B,D)

Day 5

Santiago/ Departure

After a leisurely morning, we’ll make the return journey to Santiago, stopping at another winery en route for a private tasting and lunch. Optional morning activities including hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. – Visit to Casa Lapostolle for a guided tour of the winery and a private tasting in the cellar. – Lunch at Casa Lapostolle. Return to Santiago’s International airport for your onward journey.
