Hit on some of the main highlights of this Andean country during this 8-day/7-night trip. From the colonial capital of Quito, flanked by the still active Pichincha volcano, the city’s capital brags of historic neighborhoods, grand churches and narrow streets. The cloud forest in Pacto provides an amazing, almost mystical atmosphere. The Quilotoa Crater Lake, located at the top of the Quilotoa volcano, is one of the most spectacular places in the Ecuadorian Sierra. This trip can be easily combined with a few days in the Galapagos.

Day 2

Historic Tour of Quito

This interesting city tour goes through diverse neighborhoods for a look at both colonial and modern Quito. Also, visit the “middle of the world," named during the First Geodesic Mission to Ecuador in the 18th century to determine the exact curvature of the planet. Take a walk along the equator, and learn why there are two separate markers!

Day 3

Quito to Otavalo

Visit the famous indigenous craft market. Saturdays are the most spectacular. Later visit the local communities and finally Lake Cuicocha- one of the most diverse in this region.. Hacienda Zuleta (B,Picnic Lunch, D)

Day 4

Pacto

Depart for the cloud forest region of Pacto. A mystical experience with amazing scenic beauty and amazing diversity of plants, animals (including the howler monkey) and bird life- all protected. Our Naturalists will guide you along the nature trail.
Mashpi Lodge (B,L,D)

Day 5

Pacto

A full day of activities. Visit the Observation Tower using the “Sky Bike” to explore the protected forest canopy up close. Later, visit the Life Center which puts you close to the wild life that are around this area. The forest is transformed completely during the night, the sounds and smells are intensified and other senses are awakened. On this “night safari”, unlike others, our guests find the beauty in the small details, the croaking of frogs or the hum of insects. Mashpi Lodge (B,L,D)

Day 6

Pacto to Quito

After an early morning nature walk, including a stop at the Copal Waterfall, depart for Quito. Arrive and settle into your hotel followed by dinner. Hotel Casa Gangotena (B,L,D)

Day 7

Day Tour of Quilotoa Crater Lake

Today´s destination is no other than the world’s highest active volcano: Cotopaxi. With 5,897 meters high, Cotopaxi elegantly adorns the Cordillera Real of the Ecuadorian Sierra. Enjoy a 5-course tasting menu at the Theatrum Restaurant

Day 8

Depart

Transfer back to the airport for your flight back home or continue on to the Galapagos
